No! bulkU is designed for everyone. You interact with a visual interface - just click, paste, and go. No coding, programming, or technical knowledge required.
Is my data private?
Yes, absolutely. All data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. Your URLs, groups, tags, and settings never leave your computer unless you explicitly export them. We don't collect, store, or have access to your data.
Can I scrape any website?
bulkU is a URL opener and manager, not a web scraper. It opens URLs in your browser - it doesn't extract data from websites. You should always:
- Respect website Terms of Service
- Follow robots.txt guidelines
- Use reasonable delays to avoid overloading servers
- Comply with copyright and privacy laws
Getting Started
How do I install bulkU?
Installation is simple:
- Visit the Chrome Web Store
- Search for "bulkU" or "BULK URL Opener"
- Click "Add to Chrome" (or your browser's equivalent)
- Pin the extension to your toolbar for easy access
See the Getting Started guide for detailed instructions.
Why doesn't bulkU detect any lists on my page?
bulkU is a URL manager, not a list detector. You need to manually add URLs by:
- Copying and pasting URLs
- Importing from a file
- Getting open tabs
- Using the context menu
How do I know what data I can add?
bulkU accepts URLs in various formats:
- Direct paste: One URL per line
- TXT files: One URL per line
- CSV files: URLs in the first column
- JSON files: bulkU export format
URL Management
What's the maximum number of URLs I can add?
Free version: 150 URLs per group, 5 groups total (750 URLs maximum)
Pro version: Unlimited URLs and groups
Practical limits depend on your browser's memory and performance.
Why are some items missing from my list?
Common reasons:
- Duplicates removed: bulkU automatically removes duplicate URLs
- Invalid URLs: Malformed URLs are filtered out
- Filter active: Check if you have an active filter
- Wrong group: Make sure you're viewing the correct group
Can I undo deleting a group?
No, deleting a group is permanent. However, you can restore from a backup if you've exported your data. We recommend:
- Regularly backing up your groups (click "Backup All Groups")
- Exporting important groups before making major changes
- Double-checking before clicking "Delete"
How do I handle duplicate URLs?
bulkU automatically removes duplicates when you add URLs. If you see duplicates:
- They may be in different groups
- They may have slight variations (trailing slashes, query parameters)
- Try using the "Contains" filter to find and remove them
Opening URLs
Why are URLs opening slowly?
This is intentional! The delay and batch size settings prevent browser overload. Adjust these settings:
- Delay: Time between batches (default: 2 seconds)
- Batch Size: URLs per batch (default: 10)
Opening too many URLs too quickly can crash your browser or trigger anti-bot measures on websites.
Can I open URLs in a specific order?
Yes! URLs open in the order they appear in your list. Use sorting options to arrange them:
- Alphabetically (A→Z)
- By domain (Pro)
- By length (Pro)
- Custom order (drag and drop - coming soon)
What happens to duplicate URLs when opening?
Each checked URL opens once, even if it appears multiple times in your list. However, duplicates should be automatically removed when adding URLs.
Can I pause or stop opening URLs?
Currently, there's no pause button. To stop opening URLs:
- Close the bulkU extension popup
- Refresh the page
- Close your browser
A pause/stop feature is planned for a future update.
Import & Export
Which export format should I use?
- CSV: Best for Excel, Google Sheets, and data analysis
- JSON: Best for backups, includes all metadata (tags, notes, settings)
- Copy: Best for quickly pasting into documents or spreadsheets
Can I import URLs from Screaming Frog?
Yes! Export URLs from Screaming Frog as CSV or TXT, then import into bulkU. See the SEO Professionals Guide for detailed instructions.
Where are my exported files saved?
Downloaded files are saved to your browser's default download location:
- Windows:
C:\Users\YourName\Downloads - Mac:
/Users/YourName/Downloads - Linux:
/home/YourName/Downloads
Tags & Organization
How many tags can I create?
Free version: 2 tags
Pro version: Unlimited tags
Upgrade to Pro for unlimited tags and advanced organization features.
Can I apply multiple tags to one URL?
Yes! You can apply as many tags as you want to a single URL (within your plan's tag limit). This helps with complex organization schemes.
Can I change tag colors?
Yes! Edit a tag to change its name or color. The new color applies to all URLs with that tag.
