Quick Start Guide

Get up and running with bulkU in just 5 minutes! This guide covers the essential features you need to start managing and opening URLs efficiently.

Already installed? If you haven't installed bulkU yet, check out the Getting Started guide first.

Create Your First Group

Groups help you organize URLs by project, client, or purpose. Let's create your first custom group.

Open the Groups Tab

Click the bulkU icon in your toolbar, then navigate to the "Groups" tab.

Create a New Group

Click "New Group" and give it a descriptive name like "Client Project" or "Research URLs".

Tip: Use clear, descriptive names for your groups. You'll thank yourself later when you have multiple groups!

Add URLs Quickly

There are multiple ways to add URLs to bulkU. Choose the method that works best for your workflow.

Method 1: Copy & Paste

The fastest way to add URLs:

  1. Copy URLs from anywhere (Excel, Screaming Frog, websites, etc.)
  2. Paste them into the bulkU text area (one URL per line)
  3. Click "Add URLs"

Method 2: Import from File

Perfect for large lists:

  1. Click "Import from File"
  2. Select a .txt, .csv, or .json file
  3. URLs are automatically added to your current group

Supported formats: TXT (one URL per line), CSV (URLs in first column), JSON (bulkU export format)

Method 3: Get Open Tabs

Save your current browsing session:

  1. Click "Get Open Tabs"
  2. Choose "Current Window" or "All Windows"
  3. All tab URLs are added instantly

Organize with Tags

Tags help you categorize URLs within a group for better organization.

Create Tags

Go to the Groups tab and click "Create Tag". Choose a name and color for easy identification.

Tag Your URLs

Click the tag icon (🔖) next to any URL and select one or more tags. Tagged URLs show colored badges for quick identification.

Free version limit: You can create up to 2 tags in the free version. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited tags.

Quickly find specific URLs in large lists using filters.

Text Filters

  • Contains: Show URLs containing specific text
  • Does Not Contain: Exclude URLs with specific text
  • Exact Match: Find exact URL matches
  • Regex: Use regular expressions for advanced filtering

Tag Filters

  • All Tags: Show all URLs
  • Untagged: Show only URLs without tags
  • Specific Tag: Show URLs with a particular tag

Configure Opening Settings

Customize how bulkU opens your URLs to prevent browser overload.

Key Settings

  • Delay: Time between batches (default: 2 seconds) - prevents overwhelming your browser
  • Batch Size: URLs to open at once (default: 10) - adjust based on your system
  • Limit: Maximum URLs to open (0 = no limit) - useful for testing
  • Open Mode: Choose between new tabs, new window, or tab group

Recommended settings: Start with 2-second delay and 10 URLs per batch. Adjust based on your browser's performance.

Open Your URLs

Ready to open your URLs? Here's how:

  1. Check the URLs you want to open (or use "Select All")
  2. Review your opening settings
  3. Click "Open Selected"
  4. Watch the progress indicator as URLs open in batches

Export Your Data

Save your URL lists for later use or sharing with team members.

Export Options

  • CSV: Perfect for Excel or Google Sheets - includes all URLs and tags
  • JSON: Full export with all metadata (tags, notes, settings)
  • Copy: Copy all URLs to clipboard for quick pasting

Backup All Groups

Click "Backup All Groups" to download a complete backup of all your groups, URLs, tags, and settings. Perfect for:

  • Migrating to a new computer
  • Creating regular backups
  • Sharing complete setups with team members
